Eli Carter, Rutgers’ leading scorer last season (14.9 points per game), was cleared by the NCAA Monday to play for Florida this season.

Carter received a waiver from the NCAA after transferring out of Rutgers due to the problems with ex coach Mike Rice, who verbally and physically abused players.

Carter joins Vincent Garrett (Green Bay), Mike Poole (Iona) and Derrick Randle (Pittsburgh) as former Rutgers players who transferred and received a waiver to play this season.

Carter, a junior guard, joins a loaded Florida backcourt that includes Scottie Wilbekin, Michael Frazier and highly heralded freshman Kasey Hill.
