“Work was my life before,” Bullock told the October issue of Vogue. “Now I have no reason to leave home.”

Gracing the cover of the magazine, the 49-year-old actress said her life revolves around his.

“I think this business can take the child out of kids so quickly,” she told the magazine. “I don’t want him to have pressures brought on by what I do. I will quit. I will leave. If I see whatever I’m doing affecting him negatively, I will pack up and move to Alaska.”

In fact, Bullock has stepped back from her day job since Louis’ arrival in January 2010, shortly before she won the Academy Award for her role in The Blind Side. Her upcoming film, Gravity, opposite George Clooney, is only her third appearance on screen since adopting Louis.

Bullock revealed to Vogue that she had wanted to adopt for some time and had started the process years before her role in The Blind Side. Yet when the call came, she said, “There was no crib, nothing. It was amazing how you just kick in and go, ‘This is it.’”

She managed to keep the adoption a secret for weeks, despite wanting to scream out the news at the Oscars. Instead, she made a veiled reference, thanking “moms that take care of the babies and the children no matter where they come from,” referring not just to her character Leigh Anne Tuohy, but to herself.

Bullock’s son arrived just as her marriage to custom motorcycle builder-turned-reality-TV star Jesse James was publicly imploding.

These days, she is philosophical about the split.

“We’re all where we’re supposed to be,” she told Vogue. “I am exactly where I want to be now. You can’t go backward. I’m not going backward. I’m grateful that I’m here, blessed to have what I have. Nobody can be prepared for anything.”

Bullock is also open to the idea of more children. “If all of a sudden someone said, ‘You have five more kids,’ I’d be totally OK with it,” she told Vogue.

For now, though, she said, “I’m having such an amazing time. Whatever comes our way, we handle as a family. It’s not just me anymore.”
