Max Scherzer pitched seven scoreless innings for his 21st victory of the season, and the Tigers clinched the AL Central division title with a 1-0 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night.

“I just don’t think people realize how hard it is to win,” Leyland said as he fought back tears after the game.

Torii Hunter’s RBI Single in the first inning proved to be the game’s only run, but it was all the Tigers needed as they set their sights toward October.

“For us to be able to do it three straight years now is really special and a testament to the talent in our clubhouse,” Scherzer said.

Kevin Correa (9-13) took the loss for the Twins, giving up one run and seven hits over seven innings.
