(NEW YORK) — Long before he claimed his $1 million prize as the winner of the first season of Survivor, Richard Hatch earned money as a sperm donor. Now, the reality star tells Inside Edition that he may have fathered as many as 200 children.
Hatch told the show that he donated his sperm hundreds of times at the Cryobank in Fairfax, Va., while he was a student at nearby George Mason University. He received $30 per donation.
“I did it for two years, about two or three times a week,” he said.
Hatch, who is gay, already has one son he adopted in 1998. They live in Newport, R.I., with Hatch’s partner Emiliano, whom he married in 2005.
Hatch claimed Survivor’s first $1 million prize 13 years ago during the inaugural season of the CBS series. Years later, in 2006, he was sentenced to three years in jail for failing to pay taxes on his Survivor winnings.
