The recall affects Grand Vitara SUVs from the 2006 model through the 2011 model, and the SX4 small cars from the 2007 model through the 2011 model, KABC-TV in Los Angeles reports.

No accidents or injuries have been reported, according to KABC-TV.

Suzuki said the sensor mats of these cars may stop working after repeated flexing and deploy even if a small person is in the front passenger seat.

The company said it will reprogram the front passenger air bag sensors so they will accurately measure the passenger’s weight.

Replacement mats will be free. The company will notify owners of affected vehicles within the next month.
