Texans Sign Cushing to 6-Year Extension

(HOUSTON) -- Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing signed a six-year contract extension with the team Tuesday that's worth $52.5 million in new money, according to The Houston Chronicle
also reports Cushing's base salary was reduced from $3.14 million to $1.143 million, and that the 26-year-old will receive $21 million guaranteed.
The contract keeps the 2009 Defensive Rookie of the Year with the Texans through the 2019 season.
Cushing missed most of last season after tearing his ACL in Week 5 against the New York Jets.
During his four NFL seasons, Cushing has compiled 242 tackles, 9.5 sacks, seven interceptions and six forced fumbles.
