Rogers, 31, became a fan-favorite on the reality singing show when he appeared on the second season of The Voice and announced that he had been diagnosed with HIV in 2006. Cee Lo Green selected Rogers for his team and he eventually became a semifinalist.

His website says that after a performance in Hollywood Sept. 3, Rogers decided to get his health checked out by doctors.

“However, due to the state of his condition and general health, Jamar has spent the last week in the hospital where on Monday he was taken into critical condition,” the release added.

A rep for Rogers was more upbeat than the release and told ABC News that “his spirits are high” and that he has his own room at the UCLA Medical Center, where he is expected to stay one or two more weeks to get his health sorted out.

Rogers signed recently with Tommy Boy Entertainment and a studio album is expected out next year.
