“I think the show will play a major part in my recovery,” the Mary Tyler Moore Show alum told In Touch Weekly.  “I feel much better.”

“At first I didn’t really want to do it.  I really love the show, but I was afraid,” the 74-year-old actress admitted.

Harper said her husband of 26 years, Tony Cacciotti, gave her the confidence to take the dance floor.

“When life asks you to dance, you just have to dance,” she said.

Harper, who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer earlier this year, said her cancer was “disappearing.”

Catch Harper on the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars when it airs Monday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
