“Christian, he made some mistakes, but he’s not the only reason we didn’t have success on Sunday,” Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said. “Our team did not play well, and that affects the quarterback as well. It wasn’t just Christian, it just so happens that he plays the position that’s under the most scrutiny.”

In the team’s 34-24 loss to the Detroit Lions last Sunday, Ponder completed 18 of 28 passes for 236 yards along with three interceptions.

Last season, Ponder became the team’s full time starter after making 11 starts his rookie year in 2011. He threw for 2,935 yards with 18 touchdowns. While he put up respectable numbers, the team was hoping for more out of him after making him the 12th pick in the 2011 draft.
