(LOS ANGELES) — Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara has addressed director Zack Snyder’s controversial choice of Ben Affleck as Batman in the sequel to Man of Steel.
In an interview with Variety, the exec says the Argo director is “perfect” for Snyder’s follow-up, hinting that the Caped Crusader seen going head to head with Superman in the follow-up will be, “tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for awhile.”
Tsujihara also claimed the online furor caused by Affleck’s casting actually bodes well for the follow-up, which again will star Henry Cavill as Superman.
“The fact that you saw such a passionate response in the blogosphere is really kind of a testament to the love that people have for this character,” the exec claimed. Tsujihara didn’t mention, however, much of that “passionate response” was in the negative.
The upcoming film, sometimes unofficially referred to as Superman Vs. Batman, opens in 2015.
“We think it’s going to be huge,” the studio head said.
