ABC’s “Scandal” Among Thursday Night Premieres

133056 0044 ful?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1380792250789ABC/Danny Feld(NEW YORK) — ABC’s political soap opera, Scandal, returns Thursday night, along with three new comedies — The Millers on CBS, and Welcome to the Family and Sean Saves the World on NBC.

Here’s a closer look at the shows.  All times Eastern:

ABC

Scandal, 9 p.m.: When we left off last season, Kerry Washington’s character, Olivia Pope, was outed as the president’s mistress.  In Thursday night’s premiere, Olivia’s staff of fixers at Olivia Pope and Associates tries to fix her situation.  Washington tells ABC News Radio that viewers this season will learn about Olivia’s past and that will provide a “window into how she’s become the woman that she is today.”  Actor Guillermo Díaz, who plays former CIA killer Huck in the series, tells ABC News Radio viewers this season will see flashback episodes that will provide “a glimpse into Huck and Olivia’s relationship prior to Olivia Pope and Associates.”

CBS

The Millers, 8:30 p.m.: Will Arnett plays Nathan, a recently divorced news reporter who is looking forward to the singles life when his parents suddenly split up after 43 years together.  Mom moves in with Arnett’s character while his dad imposes himself on Nathan’s sister and her family.  Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale co-star.

NBC

Welcome to the Family, 8:30 p.m.: Two families from different parts of town suddenly find themselves thrown together when their two teenage kids discover they are about to become parents themselves.  The ensemble cast includes Dan Yoder of Glee and My Name Is Earl, Ella Rae Peck of Gossip Girl, Joey Haro of Glee and Ricardo Chavira of Desperate Housewives.

Sean Saves the World, 9 p.m.: Will & Grace’s Sean Hayes returns to NBC with a new comedy about a divorced dad who’s trying to balance a life that includes an overbearing boss, a pushy mother and a teenage daughter.  Linda Lavin and Samantha Isler co-star.
