Auburn Outlasts No. 7 Texas A&M 45-41
Published at(COLLEGE STATION, Texas) — Nick Marshall threw two touchdown passes and ran for another two as No. 24 Auburn held off seventh-ranked Texas A&M 45-41 on Saturday.
Auburn’s defense rattled Johnny Manziel all afternoon, knocking him out of the game at one point. He returned to give the Aggies a 41-38 lead with 5:05 remaining.
Tre Mason scored on a five-yard touchdown run with just over one minute to play in the fourth quarter. Texas A&M (5-2, 2-2 SEC) had a chance to win the game, but Dee Ford sacked Manziel on fourth down to seal the victory.
Texas A&M receiver Mike Evans set a school record with 287 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Manziel threw all of his touchdown passes to Evans, and also had two interceptions.
Auburn (6-1, 3-1) rebounded from a 63-21 loss at the hands of the Aggies last season.
