Bannock County Gun Laws “Unconstitutional”
Published at | Updated at(POCATELLO, ID) – Bannock County is changing its security procedures in order to be in compliance with state law. In 1997, Bannock County made it illegal for anyone other than authorized personnel to bring weapons into the courthouse. However, Idaho’s constitution requires that decision to be made at the state level, and not by county commissioners. Sixth District Judge Stephen Dunn says he doesn’t have a problem with the laws enacted by the county, only that they needed state approval first. He says other courthouses within the sixth district will need to enact new security procedures to comply with state laws as well.
