Bears linebacker D.J. Williams will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his left pectoral tendon during the team’s 27-21 victory over the New York Giants Thursday.

Williams joins defensive tackle Henry Melton (torn ACL) and DT Nate Collins (torn ACL) as the third Bears’ defensive player to suffer a season-ending injury.

Williams was replaced Thursday by rookie Jon Bostic, who made one tackle in the win.

“I thought he was active,” Bears head coach Marc Trestman said of Bostic. “He was around the football. It’s the next-man-up mentality and I think he’s mentally ready to take on playing that position. The experience that he has will certainly help him down the road.”

Williams, who signed with the Bears this offseason after spending his first nine NFL seasons in Denver, has 27 tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble this season.
