Cincinnati Reds Hire Bryan Price As Manager
Published at(CINCINNATI) — The Cincinnati Reds promoted pitching coach Bryan Price to manager on Tuesday, giving him a three-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Price is replacing Dusty Baker, whom the Reds fired earlier this month after they lost the National League wild-card game to the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-2. During Baker’s six years in Cincinnati, the club finished with 90 wins or more three times and qualified for the postseason three-times.
Price served as pitching coach with the Seattle Mariners from 2000-05 and the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2006-09. He came to Cincinnati prior to the 2010 season.
This is Price’s first managerial job at any level.
