A Gallup poll recently discovered that so far in October, only about 7 percent of Americans reported having a cold on any given day of this month.  That’s a slight increase from September, when 5.7 percent said they were a little under the weather on any given day.

Meanwhile, the poll of 500 people revealed that 2.2 percent admitted to having the flu on at least one day in October, no different from the same period during the past two years.

Breaking it down demographically, more younger adults than older Americans reported having a cold or the flu while those in lower-income brackets complained about being sick more often than those in households with higher incomes.

The racial or ethnic group with the highest incidence of cold or flu, according to Gallup, is Hispanic.
