Andrew Dickehage was walking from his home to work -– about a six-mile trek — when the coyotes attacked him.  He was walking because his car had broken down.

Dickehage told ABC News Radio he suffered bites and cuts to his face, arms and legs during the attack, which lasted for about a minute and a half.  Dickehage says the coyotes jumped at him at least 10 times each before he was able to fight them off.

Officials have killed two of the coyotes believed to be involved in the attack.

If a coyote approaches you, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials advise you to wave your arms, throw objects, be as big and loud as possible and back away slowly while facing the animal.  They caution that you should not turn your back on coyotes or try to run away.
