(JEROME, ID) – Traffic jams are a pretty rare sight in rural Idaho, unless it’s a herd of cattle on a roadway. Early Wednesday morning, about 20 cows wandered onto I-84 near Jerome, blocking a five-mile stretch of road for more than two hours. Sheriffs deputies and several volunteers helped to get the animals corralled. One of the cows had to be put down because it crews deemed it virtually impossible to get it under control. No vehicle accidents were reported.
