Mattingly didn’t like how he was treated this season and expressed his feeling during a press conference earlier this week.

Still, team president Stan Kasten said Wednesday, “I never had any thought he would renege on his contract. It was never a question for me.”

Kasten and the team are unable to make anything official until after the World Series is over.

“We feel confident Stan will be reaching out to to Don within a few days, but we don’t know his timetable,” Mattingly’s agent, Ray Schulte, told ESPNLosAngeles.com on Wednesday. “We understand the Dodgers won’t be making any comments concerning those conversations until after the completion of the World Series.”

Mattingly is entering the final year on his three-year contract and has $1.4 million owed to him for next year.
