The altercation unfolded Sunday afternoon when a motorist recorded a video of a man driving erratically, Robert Purdy, a spokesman for the Kentucky State Police, told ABC News.

That’s when Purdy said the man pointed a gun directly at the motorist behind the camera.

“He ended up slamming on his brakes,” Purdy said of the motorist, whose name has not been released. “Then he went up to the next available exit about a mile and a half away and called the police.”

Using the video, authorities were able to track the license plate to Perrin Dobyns, 51, of Corydon, Ind.

Before Kentucky State Police asked their counterparts in Indiana to make an arrest, Purdy said they’d checked Dobyns’ driver’s license photo to make sure they had a match.

Dobyns was arrested Monday while working at Indiana’s Branchville Correctional Facility, according to Purdy.

It was not immediately known Dobyns had an attorney.

Dobyns is expected to be charged in Kentucky with wanton endangerment in the first degree, Purdy said. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.
