(BOISE, ID) – The Idaho Department of Education has been awarded a $1.29 million federal grant to fund organizations combating the Gem State’s high teen suicide rate. Officials plan on using the funds to assist the Idaho Lives project, a partner organization with the Idaho Suicide Prevention Action Network. They say young people in rural areas are particularly vulnerable to suicide, since they may not have access to prevention and mental health services available to teens in other parts of the state.
