(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – The shutdown of the federal government is impacting Idaho in more ways than one. Approximately 850 Idaho National Guard employees will have their paychecks furloughed. In addition, hundreds of  campgrounds on federally-controlled lands will be closed. Perhaps most significant is the WIC program, which assists more than 42,000 women and  children in the Gem State. Authorities say those receiving food assistance through WIC may lose their checks of the shutdown continues into next week. Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are also closed.
