(NEW YORK) – Two weeks after a deadly attack at a mall in Nairobi, and years after terrorist attacks at two U.S. embassies in Africa, U.S. special forces conducted two daring raids against top suspected terrorists in Somalia and Libya.
A U.S. official and senior Somali government official tell ABC News though the raid on a house in Southern Somalia is considered successful, it’s not clear if the intended target was there.
In Libya, U.S. officials say one of America’s most wanted al Qaeda terrorists, Anas al Libi, is now being transported a U.S. Navy ship. He is to be brought to New York to stand trial as one of the strategists behind the 1998 deadly bombings of U.S. embassies in Africa.
There was a $5 million reward for his capture.
