Former San Diego Mayor to Collect Public Pensions, Despite Felony
Published at(SAN DIEGO) — San Diego’s former mayor, who pleaded guilty to charges of false imprisonment and battery this week, still has some big money coming his way.
Despite his guilty plea, beleagered Democrat Bob Filner will continue to collect his public pensions totaling over $80,000 a year, according to an investigation by ABC News’ television affiliate, KGTV in San Diego.
For more than 30 years, Filner worked in public positions as a San Diego city councilman, a professor at San Diego State University, a congressman and a mayor. His federal pension alone totals close to $60,000, all paid for by taxpayers.
