Fox, CBS Pick Up New Comedies for Full Season; NBC Cancels Two Shows

Patrick Eccelsine/FOX. (NEW YORK) — Andy Samberg’s new Fox comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine is sticking around for a while. The network has picked up the show for a full season. And that may not even be the most exciting news for Samberg and his co-stars.
Fox has also revealed that Brooklyn Nine-Nine will join the Zooey Deschanel comedy New Girl in the plum-post Super Bowl time slot, on Feb. 2.
In May, Fox only said that it will air one of its new comedies in addition to New Girl after the big game. Looks like Brooklyn Nine-Nine prevailed over the critically-panned series Dads.
CBS on Friday ordered a full season of three of its own freshmen comedies: Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar’s The Crazy Ones, Anna Faris’ Mom, and Will Arnett’s The Millers. The Crazy Ones is the most-watched new comedy of the fall season, averaging 13.7 million viewers per episode. CBS previously pulled the plug on its other new comedy, We Are Men.
The news isn’t as bright over at NBC. The network has cancelled the Thursday-night comedy Welcome To The Family, which starred Mike O’Malley, and the Blair Underwood remake of Ironside. Both series struggled badly in the ratings.
NBC will fill the holes in its schedule with specials and other programming until the fifth season of Community debuts on Jan. 2 and the Chicago Fire spinoff Chicago P.D. premieres on Jan. 8.
