Eli Manning threw for 200 yards and a touchdown, newly signed running back Peyton Hillis rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown and the Giants (1-6) downed the Minnesota Vikings 23-7 to earn their first victory of the 2013 season.

“The players and coaches have great pride in what we’re doing,” Manning said.  “We just had to keep going, get rid of some of the mistakes and play the way we need to play.”

Josh Freeman struggled in his first start for the Vikings.  He competed just 20 of 53 passes for 190 yards and an interception.  New York’s defense was instrumental in holding Adrian Peterson to just 28 rushing yards on 13 carries.

“It was tough sledding. We couldn’t get anything established up front,” Peterson said as the Vikings dropped to 1-5.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars are the two remaining teams without a victory this season.
