Groom-to-Be Forgets to Book Wedding Hall; Calls In Bomb Threat
Published at(LONDON) — A British man has been sentenced to a year behind bars for calling in a bomb threat to a reception hall he had forgotten to book for his wedding.
On his big day last April, Neil McArdle realized he had forgotten to reserve a spot for his wedding, but rather than disappoint fiancee Amy Williams, the BBC reports McArdle called the police to report a bomb was hidden at St. George’s Hall in Liverpool.
Cops rushed to the scene to evacuate the facility — just 11 days after the deadly Boston bombing — but even amid the drama, McArdle’s reputation seemed to have preceded him within his soon-to-be extended family. While all were in their wedding best, his sister-in-law-to-be reportedly said, “You probably done the bomb scare yourself.”
Sure enough, the authorities traced the call and arrested a “flustered” McArdle. Despite his sentencing this week, he and Williams are still together.
