Helmet Pads Make Appearance for Local Football Teams
Published at | Updated at(ABERDEEN, ID) – High school football is notorious for head injuries, but one local high school is trying to do something about it. At Aberdeen, some players are using special helmet pads which slip over the hard shell. That, in turn, helps better absorb head-to-head collisions which can sometimes lead to concussions. Players say they’re noticing a major difference and feel like they’re better equipped to handle the occasional hard hit. Although the team has gotten a little flack for their odd appearance, coaches say it’s worth it to have their players stay healthy.
