(POCATELLO, ID) – The Hoku plant in Pocatello is going up for auction later this month. Officials have scheduled the sell-off for October 23. Auction organizers say there are already several high-profile companies looking in to purchasing the $700 million facility. Mayor Brian Blad says that most would-be buyers aren’t interested in running the facility as a polysilicon plant, like it was designed for. Bidding will start at $3 million, with the vast majority of funds going toward paying off companies that built the plant from 2007 to 2011.
