MLB? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1381242677389Major League Baseball(CLEVELAND) — After 19 seasons in Major League Baseball, Jason Giambi isn’t ready to walk away just yet. The Cleveland Indians designated hitter has indicated he’d like to return to the team next season.

Although he isn’t the prolific hitter he once was, Giambi has reinvented himself at this stage of his career.

Now 42, Giambi is mainly a part-time pinch hitter and designated hitter, but he’s emerged as a true clubhouse leader. In fact, he was nearly hired as the manager of the Colorado Rockies in 2012 due to his growing reputation as a respected teammate.

“We would like to continue our relationship with ‘G’ probably as long as he would like to,” manager Terry Francona said.

In 71 games this past season with Cleveland, Giambi hit .183 with nine home runs and drove in 31 runs.

Giambi made his Major League debut back in 1995 with the Oakland Athletics, and won the American League MVP Award back in 2000. In 19 seasons, Giambi has hit 438 home runs with the Athletics, New York Yankees, Colorado Rockies, and Indians.
