Cutler underwent an MRI on Monday, which confirmed the injury.  Josh McCown will be the team’s starting quarterback moving forward.  Jordan Palmer was signed to be the temporary backup.

Head coach Marc Trestman expressed hope that Cutler could return as early as November 24. against the St. Louis Rams.

“I’m only confident by what [the doctors] told me,” Trestman said. “This is a minimum of four weeks, and then he’ll be evaluated week to week. But based on the history — I talked to the doctors this morning — four weeks is a reasonable start, and then it would be week to week.”

Surgery will not be necessary for Cutler, who has thrown 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions for the Bears (4-3) this season.
