NFL? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1381597226277National Football League(FLORHAM PARK) — Just as the Jets are starting to hit their stride, their offense has taken a big hit as tight end Kellen Winslow has been suspended four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Winslow has a team-high 17 receptions this season for 169 yards and two touchdowns. He was emerging as a reliable target for rookie quarterback Geno Smith.

“I have investigated all possible sources since learning of the positive test, including possible medical causes, but frustratingly, I do not know the source,” Winslow said in a statement. “I do not take supplements that list any banned ingredients, but the NFL policy is very strict, so I’m accountable for the results.”

The 30-year-old Winslow signed a one-year deal with the Jets back in June with hopes of getting his career back on track. After playin in just one game for the Patriots last season, Winslow proclaimed his goal was to catch 100 passes this season.

Winslow is the second player on the Jets to be suspended. Running back Mike Goodson was suspended four games for violating the league’s policy and program for substances of abuse.

The team is now expect to rely more on tight end Jeff Cumberland.
