Florida Congressman C.W. Bill Young, 82, says he won’t run for reelection after 22 terms.  He is currently the longest serving Republican in the House.

The statement was made Wednesday while Young is still recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center from a back injury.

As for his reasons for leaving Washington, Young hinted it might very well have to do with partisanship, telling the Tampa Bay Times, “I’m a little disappointed.  It seems there’s too much politics.  It’s a different Congress.”

Young’s exit could turn out to be a boon for Democrats seeking to regain the House next year.  They believe his seat is ripe for the taking since President Obama won Florida’s 13th Congressional District in the 2012 election.
