Man Sentenced for Son’s Death


( POCATELLO , ID ) – A Pocatello man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the death of his six-year-old son.  Anthony Viles is accused of hitting his son so hard that the boy fell on his head and died. Viles, who has a long history of mental illness, was originally charged with first-degree murder, though the charge was later reduced to voluntary manslaughter after the April 2012 incident. On Tuesday Judge Stephen Dunn gave Viles a seven-year fixed sentence, citing Viles’ apparent remorse and desire for rehabilitation
