AURORAPOLICEDEPARTMENT 102813? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1383006241001Aurora Police Department(AURORA, Colo.) — A manhunt is underway in the Denver suburb of Aurora, Colorado after a kidnapping.

Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said an 8-year-old girl was asleep in her bed when a man found an unlocked window, cut a hole in the screen and pulled her out. She reportedly put up a fight as he carried her to his car and somehow got free.

Police say the girl’s father awoke to noise, and came outside to find his daughter outside the home and a newer-model BMW speeding away.

Police describe the suspect as a white man with blonde hair. He wore a black winter-style jacket and had a smell of cigarette smoke. He was possibly driving a silver BMW-style sedan.

Oates said the police do not know why the girl was targeted.
