Phoenix Coyotes Defeat Detroit Red Wings, 5-2

Center Martin Hanzal scored the go-ahead goal on an assist from Lauri Korpikoski at 7:08 into the third period, giving Phoenix a 3-2 lead. The Coyotes would increase their lead later in the period on center Mike Ribeiro’s second goal of the game. Smith sealed the game with another goal with a second left in the contest.

Center Pavel Datsyuk and forward Todd Bertuzzi gave the Red Wings a 2-0 lead after the first period, but a goal by center Antoine Vermette at 19:00 into the second period would start the Coyotes’ comeback.
