(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – Researchers at the Idaho National Laboratory have captured a rare bat in a desert cave. Wildlife biologists found a hoary bat inside a cave in September. Unlike other bats known to be in the region, hoary bats prefer forested areas. Up to this point, researchers haven’t known much about hoary bat migration patterns in Idaho. However, the latest data proves that hoary bats use desert caves as resting spots while migrating. Experts plan to use this data to map out and better understand bat habitats at the INL
