McCann was on vacation with her family when she disappeared in 2007, just days before her 4th birthday.

After six years, British investigators are searching through cellphone data from people who were at the resort around the time of the youngster’s disappearance.

Madeleine’s mother Kate and father Gerry, both doctors, had tucked Madeleine and her twin siblings in and went to have dinner with friends as a restaurant about 300 feet from their room. An hour and a half later, they went to check on the children, and Madeleine was gone. Her parents were declared suspects but never charged.

Today, the work of the Scotland Yard detectives is painstaking as they try to identify the owner of each phone to figure out who exactly was in the area. Based on their probing, detectives have identified 41 “persons of interest,” 15 of whom are British.

So far, no one has been arrested, and the little girl has never been found.
