Zesen Shen, 18, and Kaiyu Lao, 21, are accused of involvement in a fight that left a 20-year-old injured.

The Indiana University Police Department received a call around 3:30 a.m. about a stabbing at student housing complex Tulip Tree Apartments, prompting university officials to advise students to take shelter. The alert was lifted around 7 a.m., with the university tweeting an “All Clear” from IU Police.

Prior to the stabbing incident, there had been an “altercation” at another location, IUPD Lt. Craig Munroe told ABC News. One of the suspects and the stabbing victim, Kuan-Nien Chen, agreed to meet at the apartments.

Chen was outside the main entrance when the suspects exited a vehicle and chased him, slashing at him while running.

The victim was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Munroe said.

Both suspects are charged with intimidation, and one is additionally charged with battery.
