(NEW YORK) — According to the creators of a back care app, 84 percent of 18-24-year-olds have reported back pain in the past year caused by their use of iPhones, iPads and other digital devices. It’s becoming so common that doctors have coined an appropriate name for the condition: iPosture.
According to the survey of 3,000 adults carried out by Simplyhealth, the backers of the BackCare app, users of all ages stooping over their smartphones and other gizmos are seeing the ill effects.
The survey also revealed 66 percent of this younger age group admitted to slouching or hunching in front of their computers and devices, and this group spends more than eight hours a day doing so — not including TV time — the Daily Mail reports.
Over 55-year-olds spent nearly seven hours in front of computers and other gear.
