(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – Those enrolled in the WIC program may temporarily hold onto their benefits, in spite of the government shutdown.  According to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, WIC has received enough funding to continue honoring food vouchers through the end of October. On Tuesday, authorities feared that those on WIC would lose benefits by the end of the week, which would affect approximately 42,500 Idahoans. Until Congress is able to reach a consensus on the budget for fiscal year 2014, the state can’t continue providing assistance in November.
