Jason Merritt/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Will Ferrell paid a visit to his alma mater, the University of Southern California, on Tuesday to deliver a serious speech to the students, but he also managed to provide a few laughs when he appeared on stage in full Trojan armor to lead the USC marching band.

The Anchorman star was at the University with his friend and former alumnus Craig Pollard to talk to the students about careers, friendship and life philosophies. The two met while they were both students at USC and have remained friends ever since. Ferrell is a supporter and celebrity spokesperson for Pollard’s charity, Cancer for College.

A video posted on YouTube shows Ferrell leading the USC marching band and drawing cheers from the audience.

Ferrell will reprise his role as Ron Burgundy in Anchorman 2, which co-stars Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate and Vince Vaughn. The film opens December 20.
