The show is currently split between Lima, Ohio, and the Big Apple.

The possible changes come in the wake of Cory Monteith’s untimely death this past July, which made series creators scramble to come up with a new ending for the series. Glee creator Ryan Murphy tells E! Online the original ending was designed around Cory’s character, Finn Hudson, and Rachel Berry, played by Lea Michele.

One idea that Murphy is mulling over, according to an E! source, is to address gay rights in Russia by “moving Kurt…to Russia.” Kurt is one of the show’s gay characters. He’s played by Chris Colfer.

Another possible scenario, reported by TVLine.com, would be to move the storyline totally to New York City, where series characters Rachel and Santana, played by Naya Rivera, are currently located.

Both websites confirm that in either case, the main production of the series will remain on the West Coast.

Both options, according to E!, would also create some tough decisions for Murphy and the show’s producers regarding the fate of the McKinley High crew, including Jane Lynch and Matthew Morrison.

Still, E! was told by one of its sources that Murphy and his team are even entertaining a third possible idea that would move the series back to McKinley High.

Glee, currently in its fifth season, airs Thursdays at 9 p.m.
