Woman Loses Thousands in Grant Scam

(RIGBY, ID) – The Better Business Bureau is warning eastern Idahoans about a scam claiming to offer access to federal grant money. Experts say scammers falsely representing the federal government are texting people claiming that various grants are available to them. The “catch” is that in order to get access to the grant, would-be victims would have to buy a prepaid debit card at a local store and then relay all of the card’s information back to the scammer. They say a Rigby woman recently lost more than $10,000 because of the scam.
