Karmel Allison from San Diego, who is pregnant and has Type 1 diabetes, was standing behind the president in the Rose Garden when she started to wobble and sway.  Obama, noticing an interruption, turned around and reached out to help Allison just as she stumbled backwards and was caught by the man standing behind her.

“You’re OK.  I’m right here.  I got you,” the president said, before joking that “this happens when I talk too long.”

“Good catch, by the way,” Obama told the man who broke her fall, as Alison was escorted out of the Rose Garden.

Alison later tweeted: “I’m ok world- just got a little lightheaded. Thanks, @BarackObama for catching me! And good thing this pregnant diabetic is pregnant :)”

Alison, whom the White House described as a “prospective Affordable Care Act beneficiary,” was attending the event because she had a positive experience researching coverage options on the new online marketplace.
