(8) Clemson Rocks Georgia Tech 55-31
Published at(CLEMSON, S.C.) — Tajh Boyd threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns to help No. 8 Clemson rout Georgia Tech 55-31 at Memorial Stadium.
The senior put a scare into Clemson fans everywhere when he fell to the turf in pain at the end of the third quarter with what the school said was a left collarbone injury.
Boyd had X-Rays done during the game and nothing was broken. He lobbied to return to the game but the Tigers (9-1, 7-1) were leading 41-24 at that point.
“If it was a dire situation I felt like I needed to play I felt like I could’ve,” Boyd said. “But we were in a situation where it wasn’t needed.”
With four touchdown passes Thursday night, Boyd has passed Philip Rivers as the all-time leader in the ACC.
It was the first home game for Clemson since they were demolished by No. 2 Florida State last month, and they wanted to make sure to take care of their home field this time around.
Georgia Tech dropped to 6-4 with the loss.
