Rob Brown, who plays Delmond Lambreaux on Treme and is African-American, claims in his suit, filed Wednesday, that he was accused of using a fake credit card to purchase a $1300 Movado watch that he intended to give to his mother, who was graduating from college.

The 29-year-old actor further alleges that New York Police Department detectives handcuffed and “paraded” him in the store. He says he was held in a cell for approximately 45 minutes, causing him to be late for his mother’s graduation ceremony.

Brown filed a class-action lawsuit against Macy’s because, he argues, the retailer has displayed a pattern of racial profiling its customers.

A Macy’s spokesperson didn’t comment specifically on the lawsuit to the Daily News, but said, “Macy’s does not tolerate discrimination of any kind, including racial profiling.”

The newspaper notes that Brown has also filed a suit against the New York Police Department.
