The team is handling Stoudemire’s knee issues carefully, and decided to keep him out of their game Sunday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The team’s medical staff has advised that Stoudemire play just 10 minutes a game. It should be worth noting that 30-year-old Stoudemire is making $21.6 million this season.

Forward Kenyon Martin has the same minutes limit, and the team plans on rotating the two players to avoid them participating in back-to-backs.

“Sure, it’s tough for both of them,” Knicks head coach Mike Woodson said about Stoudemire and Martin. “My hands are tied, too. When the medical people release these guys and say that their minutes are ready to go up, then I’ll be the first one to give them more minutes. But right now I can’t do it.”

Stoudemire has undergone three knee procedures in the past 12 months.
