(NEW YORK) — The Dow Jones Industrial Average Friday closed at yet another new high. It’s the 41st time this year the Dow has finished at record levels, with the industrial average now up close to 23 percent this year.
The blue chips index ended the day 16,064.70, up 54.71.
For those investors who had the courage to jump into the market as it cratered in March of 2009, you have been rewarded quite handsomely. Since that March 2009 bottom the Dow has jumped 145 percent.
The Dow has been up seven straight weeks for its best stretch in nearly three years.
The S&P 500 also closed at a new high Friday. The broader market index finished up 8.90 points at 1,804.75. Year to date, the S&P has gained more than 26 percent. This is the first time the S&P has ever closed above 1,800.
And the Nasdaq Composite finished the week just a few points shy of 4,000, closing at 3,991.65. This year the Nasdaq is up 32 percent.
