Biden on Monday called one of the six original “Rosie the Riveters” who worked in the Kaiser Shipyards on the west coast during World War II.

The shipyards produced critical parts and equipment to support the war effort, including some of the ships used in the landing at Normandy.

Phyllis Gould, 91, one of the “Riveters,” had written Biden asking for the chance to meet him at the White House saying it’s “the last biggie on my to-do list before I die.” Monday, he invited her to come.

Hear the Vice President’s call with Gould here:

“As my grandpop would say: keep the faith. And as my grandmom would say: no, Joey, spread it,” Biden told Gould.
